Review:The Courtney John Project’s> Black Cinderella

 BLACK CINDERELLA COVER ART FINAL2

This phenomenal new track has just been re produced  on the Fiwi music label. This version carries with it a new fusion twist to the sounds of Errol Dunkley’s  1972 original version.

With the release of this single brings  the Courtney John Projects début album ‘Future’ one step closer to international release.

This version is just one of three hit singles, showcasing their ability to reach a broader audience.

The creative fusion of Courtney Johns lovers vocals with The Wizard and Lenky’s expert blending of contemporary dub-electronica, is tweaked so that it’s haunting mix enhances the original.

The listener has much to identify in the sounds of this new Roots-tronic fusion genre .

As the tune drops, quaking vibes enhance the narrative in Courtney John’s vocal style as the lyrics suggest loss beginning and throughout. the lyrics are heartfelt and reflective of Errol Dunkley’s version yet through their expertise the trio seem to make the tune seem like their own.

Mel Cooke a Jamaica Gleaner  writer published an article on Sunday the 28th of June  2009 about the origins of the song Black Cinderella.  Interviewing Dunkley he said:  ‘it developed from a poem his producer Jimmy Rodway had written for him, when they recorded it at Dynamic studios’. The love song was to appear on Rodway’s Fimi Time label. The song was initially a tribute to hardworking black women but after a few adjustments to the lyrics, Dunkley made it into a love song.

Courtney Johns lovers style of vocals is truly reminiscent of the initial feelings captured on the original.

It has the potential to draw in both young and old fans alike, with its rich tapestry of melodic sounds.

The Courtney John Project’s long term super-producer, Nastassja Hammond better known as ‘The Wizard’ fuses sample sounds of aircraft and movement in time across a spectrum of dub beats, creating an astonishing fusion with Steven ‘Lenky’ Marsdens beautiful dub-style piano solo. The intermittent beat plates and subtle dub-horns take the listener on a personal journey from beginning to end.

The auditory feast on this track makes it a truly unique revive tune, one to gain momentum in the future  success of the album.

The history of capoeira dates back to the colonial days of slavery and primarily to the african state of Angola. The origins and development of Capoeira in the slums/favellas of Brazilian cities is one of community unity that grew out of the need to protect oneself from danger. The dance martial art is now in a exhibitionary form but was once banned from use as it enticed violence within the lower socio-economic populations.

Strains and Cures:Health Benefits of Medicinal Cannabis

If you suffer from a debilitating illness take a look at some of the videos and links and feel free to contribute to this discussion by posting in the comments section below.

http://www.cannabisinternational.org/

The U.S. Compassionate Use Act and Multiple Sclerosis are two main factors that we think of when we hear “so-called” experts discussing the medicinal facts of medical marijuana; it is not uncommon to see propaganda spread about a topic hotly debated since the “Nixon-administration” in the mid to late 1950 and the United States governments influence over foreign politics.

This can be seen as a rejection of accurate facts, even-though “the powers that be” are aware of the historical and medicinal use that has been well documented as a herbal medicine for hundreds of years (going back to the Chinese dynasties  and also to  Queen Victoria who attributed it’s benefits to improving digestion and easing labour pains).

The health benefits of medical marijuana are often a taboo subject in modern societies, probably because of governments inability to cope with “the war on drugs” and grasp medical marijuana as a medicine and as a taxable and regulated industry ; probably due to the smoking aspect being perceived as the unhealthiest option and its  recreational use. Although as we can see in dispensaries in the Netherlands and many U.S. states,it’s education on the cannabis product that takes precedence over its recreational use ,social problem factors seem to be nothing but fabricated by those in authorities who create their own facts at the expense of  debilitating health condition sufferers.

The pharmaceutical industry has had a long period of time to gather it’s data and conduct clinical trials so that it can provide pharmacies with a product with no adverse side effects which as a result would be profitable and improve financial growth at a time of economic recovery within the stock-markets.

Governments are wasting their time fighting something that has been in existence since before civilizations gained a foothold on this planet , every-year more and more countries take steps towards leniency and full recognition of its health giving properties.

I wonder if the agenda lies with scientists having had their authority taken away and been influenced by the powers that be in such a way as to either approve or reject claims(although the evidence leans in the direction of provide versus confiscate).

At a time of increased financial pressures many people have little time to reflect on what is important to them in life and are continuously rushing around,it sounds like we are just “pawns or cogs in the wheel” if we are to accept the view of the powers that be on this topic; that “we would be an unproductive society” if cannabis legislation was made more flexible for those with debilitating ailments, seeking its benefits. It is just not logical to control something that is part of nature, that is essential to pain relief ,where pharmaceuticals  continues to dominantly view herbal medicine as inferior by orthodox medicine rather than combining both approaches, I fail to see the justification of this argument even though herbalism existed before orthodox medicine, how can it be said that it does not give the same or better relief from debilitating health conditions. There is astounding majority support figures available to suggest that society is now ready to see this being incorporated into primary healthcare, with public opinion showing that ‘ the positives far out-way the negatives’ ;especially with edibles and isolates  now available  (without the high or full body stone associated with specific strains).

If you research this topic with reference to the demography of ethnic cultures around the world regarding its meditative  effect as essential to healing; what you will find is an astounding similarity in feedback regarding its medicinal benefits from varying forms of its consumption .  The research is there to suggests that cannabis strains each possess varying levels of the T.H.C. and C.B.D. properties each with a unique effect to enhance the quality and standard of  a persons life. There seems to be a misconception that cannabis causes psychosis, rather than allowing Psychologists to analyse the underlying mental health history of the individual through a more holistic approach.

Check out these links and make your own decision rather than being influenced. I welcome your feedback in the comments section below.

YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT?

This statement is often thrown around and not really contemplated, many of us joke about it and say things like; “If I eat bananas,am I bananas.Or If I eat nuts am I nuts(crazy)?”, it may be easy for the nutrition fanatic or educated practitioner to critique this statement or an individual who does not apply this concept to daily life, but the truth of the statement is it is not outside the realm of our basic understanding, rather than just stuffing food into our mouths to sustain energy,do we really stop to consider a food items nutritional value? .The reason for discussing this statement is my observation to the lack of commitment to our well-being; many people like myself have been known to comfort eat or skip meals, when we are feeling lethargic or depressed, this is a complicated and problematic factor, which many of us dismiss as ridiculous.

Many books have been written on Carbohydrate-addiction and the need to consume excess starchy foods which only gives us short term energy like that of sugar, potatoes, white rice and gluten rich white bread. The body utilises this by converting into fat and storing in the liver which is burned as energy according to calorie expenditure, many of us do not realise that our body image and mood are interlinked according to nutrient uptake. Our blood brain-barrier transmits essential electrolytes (mineral salts which act as neurotransmitters) which govern endocrine(hormone) control. If we are truly able to take control of our well-being,we need to take  this statement seriously and question why we eat a certain way so that we can identify, rather than selfishly inflict our moods on those around us by making excuses.

It is so easy to supplement our diet and neglect essential vital nutrients that come from whole-foods, most of us consider the healthy eating plan bland and uninteresting because of what we initially deem flavorless. Generally food of all description has health giving properties, but it is this lack of knowledge of quantity versus energy requirement that becomes an over-riding factor.

Allergies are now known to be caused by a lack of antigen factors in our blood; which basically means that foods that have not been introduced to us can often have adverse effects on our bodies, families eat certain ways and encourage their offspring to do the same rather that giving them choices; take for example a family who raise their children as strict vegan, they have not the same chance to adapt to calorie requirements for their daily needs as often these  lifestyle choices are imposed by families, which is realistically how experts are proving how a lack of a full range of food groups can genetically show future  offspring allergic reactions.

If you are having trouble making adjustments to lifestyle eating patterns, wouldn’t it be worth considering visiting a Naturopathic Nutritionist in your area they are fully qualified to examine the constituents of your diet and can encourage adjustments accordingly.
