  1. When I was living in London, I went to Greg Isaacs’ concerts every time he came over. He was a marvelous, effortless performer in his day – his timing was immaculate. By the time I came to live in Jamaica, he was getting into his cocaine and his best days were over. It was extremely sad – and he did speak quite openly about his struggles with substance abuse. It ruined his lovely voice. The Cool Ruler, indeed. I love all his albums up until “Night Nurse” – “Soon Forward” is one of my favorite reggae songs ever. He also had a great band in his heyday – the Roots Radics.
