For most people Emotional Freedom Techniques are a relatively new discovery in the area of personal development. I came across it by mistake when I was searching online for a training course in Psychotherapy. E.F.T. is a branch of Neuro-Linguistic Programming and Hypnotherapy and has borrowed some approaches from past life regression and Time Line therapies.I was impressed by the fact that it didn’t need too much extensive study as I was looking for something to blend with my repertoire of skills as a Complementary Health Therapy Professional.
E.F.T. can be taught in three levels ; Level One teaches the tapping methods for self healing and working with friends and family to help overcome stored up thoughts and emotions such as anger, fear, jealousy or resentments which are causing personal problems.The tapping method is constructive and allows individuals,couples and groups to work closely together in a non-judgemental environment whereby each person partners up and takes turns throughout the course of the day to reflect and work on issues that have obstructed their growth and potential while the E.F.T. instructor assists the process .Level two and three on the other hand are for more serious practitioners either in a lifestyle or professional capacity.
I found an advertisement on a notice board for this training in my home city of Cork and quickly contacted the hosts number which funnily enough turned out to be a friend’s husband who was a Hypnotherapist undertaking his teacher training level with our instructor Michelle A. Hardwick an internationally recognised professional E.F.T. teacher/trainer.
On the two weekends that it took to complete the level 1 and 2 trainings I was introduced to many approaches for certification with the Association for the Advancement of Meridian Energy Therapies(AAMET). Many of which were difficult to process as I was to work on painful memories of the past 10 years, although it was challenging it was this emotional release that confirmed to me its profound therapeutic benefits. I was excited and relieved by this powerful transformation and at the same time was finally giving myself permission to completely accept and heal all the disowned parts of my life that I had ignored.
Emotional Freedom Techniques in my opinion are an excellent way of dealing with issues you cannot address in a normal setting(with others present), it is a universal aid that is in use worldwide by practitioners in therapeutic professions as well as the general public.
It was founded by Gary Craig an Energy healer/ Psychotherapist who spent over 30 years developing it’s use in professional practice.The discovery behind the method is that emotional upsets are the result of an imbalance in the body’s energy system,it is an emotional healing technique that is also capable of drastically relieving many physical symptoms based on a revolutionary new discovery that violates most of the beliefs within conventional psychology.
